The Internet of things will transform aviation

If there were an intelligent revolution in aviation, would it have a more efficient and enjoyable experience?Technology is helping us find the answer to that question. The Internet of things, a seemingly familiar but unfamiliar concept, is reshaping the airline industry in a number of ways.Passengers who choose to fly are more concerned about the cost of time and comfort. And the Internet of things can help travelers achieve that goal by providing them with personalized services.Airlines and airports are now enjoying the benefits of the Internet of things - more advanced beacon technology, autonomous parking robots, good travel entertainment and facial recognition technology bring rapid security and clearance.

Building the Internet of things will be a top priority in their blueprint over the next three years.

So how will the Internet of things reshape aviation?

In 2018, mom doesn't have to worry about my luggage anymore

The new beacon technology will change our slow check-in and baggage collection at the airport so you don't have to worry about getting lost. The SITA 2015 aviation information technology trend survey shows that only 9% of airlines are using or testing beacon technology now, though don't worry, that number will increase to 44% by 2018.

In-flight status notifications are nothing new, with about 60 percent of airlines offering in-flight notifications to passengers via smart apps, and the industry expects to reach 96 percent coverage by 2018.Future notification services will also include real-time luggage location markers.

At the same time, the new technology will allow airlines to take passengers' locations and guide them to their gates in time.
